Passivity has seemed to leak into the body of Christ and our own lives on the day to day. We no longer understand the sides of God we just want to receive His good grace, mercy, and blessings. We truly no longer seek His face but give in to the carnal desires of our flesh lusting after the things of this world, and denying the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Being passive about the will of God is probably the greatest deception seeping into the brethren. Passivity is an insult to God and is an insinuation that we think we know better than Him. It is an act of subtle rebellion. Yet again since Adam, we have exalted ourselves on to the throne of God and therefore leading ourselves and others into much destruction.
PASSIVITY
noun: passivity
1.acceptance of what happens, without active response or resistance.
"the perceived passivity of the populace is deceptive"
When I read this it does not sound like my heavenly Father at all. We most forwardly read of the fruit of the Holy Spirit and how to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit found below;
Walking in the Spirit
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [a]adultery, [b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [d]gentleness, self-control. Against such, there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Most mentionable this passage is the comparison of the fruits of the Holy Spirit said after the identifying of what lust and sin of the flesh look like for us in our everyday living. In Galatians 5 it outlines the seriousness of the works of the flesh and its eternal consequences for those who commit these offenses against God and do not repent of them in the name of Jesus Christ. Those who do such things outlined in Galatians 5: 19-22 SHALL NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.
If this is Gods response to sin and He is the only righteous judge why are we passive about the alarming evidence of them in ourselves? and secondly in others?
This passage was given to us for discernment so we can discern the sin in us in which we need to forever take before the throne and our fruits assured knowing we are abiding in Christ Jesus. Often we use this as a metaphor to tolerate the things that God does not tolerate. That is because we do not want to really let go of our sin or control.
This passivity to sin is what is causing the Church of Jesus Christ to cower in the nations. We have lost our spine and guts and no longer stand for the things of God. We lust and desire to be complacent like those we were sent to minister to, we will not draw the line because we want people to like us. We care more about pleasing men than God and this is where we risk the fire. Sometimes we have to say No! or remove ourselves from the situations God has already delivered us from and step into the abundance of life he has promised us.
Passivity is in no way kindness. Throughout history and through the word of God it is perfectly illustrated for our own nourishment the stories of many who fell due to passivity and not obeying the word of the LORD. We think we can pick and chose and are partial to our own flesh. This is why the LORD lays out for us that we are to live by the Spirit, not by our flesh.
Romans 8:1 NKJV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
The LORD has placed in each of us my brethren His character we are made in the likeness of God, we are like our Father. We know our Father is not partial in anything He loves and in that embodies many things for our benefit He rebukes, He corrects, teaches, encourages, He knows what we need.
He employs us to apply wisdom where we need and sometimes yes He does require us to take a stand and be His living word in this world and amongst our brethren. Jesus is our perfect example in the flesh of what this looks like, He was not ruled by the rules and regulations of man, He always knew the Father's will was His focus and trumped everything. No matter how big His ministry got, no matter where He was He always managed even if it meant jumping on a boat and taking off to get Himself alone with the Father and to do His will.
In that, we are the fruit of Jesus Christ's obedience to the Father.
It is only then will we be connected to God. I think of judgment and I tremble, when I realize that it doesn't matter what people say or think, men's rules, opinions, discouragements, betrayals, family members, pastor, in the end, we all have to stand ALONE and give account for ourselves. We will turn left and right and see no one.
Yes God is love but we must not be partial in understanding what love truly means. We do not make love into our own design as a carnal feeling of comfort or whatever "feeling" to fit our disobedience to the LORD. Or to interpret the love of God as the Gentiles do.
Love is many things when we truly love our children we correct them in hopes to lay a foundation to prevent them from future fatal disaster, to prepare them for a real world that is not all love. That they may have a chance to be what they were born to be and have substance and roots in the Lord.
This is how the LORD deals with us all. Let us not be stumbling blocks and snares, yes be encouragers and always love and shine your light bright. May the discernment of all of the children of God increase in these times. May we further beg for wisdom and understanding from the Holy Spirit of the principles of the Lord. Always may we live and be led by the Holy Spirit and walk in the divine power, love, and sound mind He has given us, to bring forth the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
May peace grace and love be with you all.
