The temptation of all the ways provocation is used against us as a weapon in even the most ordinary circumstances. Have you ever thought that at times with no other purpose that our fellow man people are just trying to get the worst reaction out of you. Not all conscious but some subconscious. That we endure hundreds even thousands of venomous bites throughout our everyday life all to reveal if we have the wisdom and the character to not allow it to postpone us.
Enduring provocation the right way could be the make or break to our next destination.
That we might have to keep going over and over this until we how figure out how to withstand the temptation to fire back just like a venomous serpent. And learn instead how to crush them under our feet.
It would be the easy thing to settle and become the same type of venomous coward. Deliver the low blows and pot shots just what our flesh wants us to do. It would instantly make us feel better if we answered back and left the sting of poison.
If worse if we are provoked into a large group of vipers simultaneously stinging another person. This too would be exposing another part of ourselves. It shouldn't be too hard for us to gather the gumption to pass on the character assassination. Knowing that we were made to defeat bitter poisonous venom with the word of God set in our hearts, to the point it has manifested itself through the work of the Holy Spirit into our character.
We no longer react the same way we used to before Christ took hold of us. He taught so many ways to preserve through the taunts and provocations that lead to destruction. Mega consequences we were not prepared to pay for.
Remember way back in the day if somebody even looked at you the wrong way it would have set you off. You would took every single opportunity to fight back and "defend" yourself. Unapologetically too no remorse it would not of even phased you. Merciless. That doesn't mean we have given others permission to walk all over us either.
You and I were the very venomous creatures we despised.
But now we learned a few things have grown up a little bit and put our big shoes on. We understand what we are fighting with, and how much better it is to walk in victory with Christ Jesus. We can spot the vice a continent away before it hits our doorstep. We have taken away the element of surprise. We are starting to wonder why it even comes by anymore with genuine joy and righteousness.
I am impressed when see someone walking in the power of Christ treading down all the vipers. It is part of our inheritance.
