The Man in the Interesting Suit

The thing about leadership in a general sense. It is your fault if you do not teach others correctly. At the end of the day, we want people who no longer need our leadership. They have without even noticing have become leaders themselves.

Then maybe we have done our part right. When we teach others maybe they we will even surpass us. That is even better.

I was thinking about accountability. What it means when people you teach fail. Do we even consider teaching others how to fail well? When it's all said and done do, we just want to blame others that they did not succeed. Especially with our help and guidance. Do we feel the pain when others failed under our leadership? What are we going do about it?

Ideally if we want to define success it would be visible in those look up to us or those who are under us for leadership for a season or period of time. Defining that success is impossible with the guiding force, of developing other great leaders. Isn't it a relief when someone says I can do this myself now. The beauty of another human being, being set free. Who is now able to challenge the future boldly.

That we are not leaders just to be worshipped and to have others look up to us. We are leaders to multiply. Or else what is the point of teaching?

I guess in short, we all define success differently and how our lives will impact the rest of the world. My hope is that some of that success is that we helped others succeed and found great joy in that. That in the end they kicked ass in their lives and found out something new and true about themselves.

Even better they cultivated a true genuine relationship in Christ at all times. That moved them and the earth.

Defining success for the future big question. I am thinking about this.
